The Ritual Series: The Calm Ritual

The Ritual Series: The Calm Ritual

Welcome to The Ritual Series — a collection of therapist-informed self-care rituals designed to support your nervous system through scent, sensory grounding, and intentional pause.

Each ritual in this series features one fragrance from the Well & Within Ritual Collection, offering a simple, accessible experience you can return to whenever you need grounding, calm, or emotional reset.

Today’s ritual centers on Calm — a soft, soothing blend of jasmine and white tea created to support anxious moments.

Why This Ritual Helps Calm Anxiety

Anxiety doesn’t just live in our thoughts — it lives in the body.

When we feel anxious or overwhelmed, the nervous system often shifts into a state of high alert (aka, fight or flight). The evolutionary response to stress in our bodies is the same as though we’re being chased by a lion - our bodies literally don’t know the difference. So before we can use insight and logic to quell anxious thoughts, our bodies need some sort of cue that we are safe - this usually happens through the senses.

The Calm Ritual gently supports the nervous system using scent, breath, touch, and reflection — all evidence-informed tools commonly used in therapeutic settings.

The Calm Ritual

Set aside 5–15 minutes. Move through each step at your own pace.

Step 1: Begin with scent

Light your Calm candle. Notice the scent as it fills the space. The gentle notes of jasmine and white tea are intentionally blended to feel light, soothing, and non-overwhelming — offering your nervous system a subtle cue of safety.

Step 2: Slow the breath

Bring attention to your breathing. Try a simple count:

Inhale for 1

Exhale for 2

Repeat this rhythm for several breaths, allowing your body to gradually settle.

Step 3: Ground through touch

Choose an object to hold — a worry stone, stress ball, fidget, or anything nearby. Notice its weight, texture, and temperature. Engaging the sense of touch helps interrupt anxious thought loops and anchors you in the present moment.

Bonus: pair the Calm candle with our amethyst crystal worry stone for deeper calm and stress relief.

Step 4: Release thoughts onto paper

Turn to your favorite notebook or journal and write freely. There’s no need to organize or analyze — simply allow thoughts to move out of your head and onto the page.

Therapist tip:

If your mind feels especially busy, try a quick brain dump before beginning the ritual. Write out all anxious thoughts first, then return to the ritual and journal again afterward. Many people notice a meaningful shift when they compare how they feel before and after.

When to Use the Calm Ritual

This ritual can be especially supportive:

Before bed when your mind won’t quiet

After a long or emotionally demanding day

During periods of heightened anxiety or stress

Anytime you feel overstimulated or overwhelmed

Self-care rituals don’t need to be reserved for crisis moments — they’re often most effective when practiced proactively.

About the Ritual Series

The Ritual Series is designed to help you experience each Ritual Collection candle as more than a scent — but as a sensory tool for emotional well-being.
